The ''Memphis Flyer'' is a free weekly alternative newspaper serving the greater Memphis, Tennessee area. Liberal in its politics, the Flyer covers local politics, as well as music and entertainment, regional sports, and human interest stories. Circulation: 55,000
The Flyer was founded in 1989 by publisher Kenneth Neill. The current editor is Bruce VanWyngarden, father of MGMT lead singer Andrew VanWyngarden. The Flyer is a publication of Contemporary Media, Inc. which also publishes Memphis magazine, Memphis Parent, and Memphis Business Quarterly.
The Memphis Flyer hits the streets every Wednesday morning with a blend of serious hard news and entertainment coverage.
Memphisflyer.com is the partner website, and all of the features and editorials found each week in the print edition are searchable and downloadable and posted online every Thursday morning. Memphisflyer.com also features "The Buzz," daily local news and gossip found only online, and updated all day long by the Flyer's editorial staff.
